Dr. Malek was raised in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he attended Millbrook High School. After his high school graduation in 1985, he continued his education at North Carolina State University, where he received his undergraduate degree in 1990, majoring in Mechanical Engineering. He received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1999 from the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Dentistry. He is an active member of the North Carolina Dental Society, the American Dental Society, and the Raleigh-Wake County Dental Society. Dr. Malek has been practicing in Knightdale, NC since November of 2001.
